What? This is the first opportunity the club will have to begin clearing trails for the State Ride. We will clear several trail this weekend and this is a great opportunity to help!! The trails in this area are mostly intermediate and should be accessible to most. This is a great chance to hang out with other club members and start getting ready for a week of excellent camping!!
DINNER: We will be having a Mexican themed potluck this year. Please bring something inspired from south of the border to share!!!
When? June 14th weekend. We'll head up after work on Friday. Some folks may even get there Thursday evening.
Where: Peace Creek trailhead near Silver Creek Plunge area.
Directions: From Boise, take Highway 55 to Banks and turn right to Garden Valley, towards Lowman on the Banks-Lowman Rd. Turn left onto the Middle Fork Road at around 9 miles and then go 1 mile to Crouch(great hamburgers and shakes!). Go through Crouch, north on the Middle Fork Road, which becomes the gravel National Forest Road 698(NF-698) and then to nf-671 approximately 23 miles, just past the Silver Creek Plunge area. There, you will see the TVTMA signs directing you to the final camp destination near the Peace Creek Trailhead.
Bring your bug spray!! Mosquitos and Horse Flys are late getting out this year and they are very hungry!
Other area activites:
There are ATV opportunities in the area as well as excellent single track trail. The Idaho Parks and Rec TRAIL WEBSITE is a really cool way to check out all of the trails. You can zoom in, then click on the trail you want to preview. After a second, it will highlight and display the trail, the length of the trail, the trail name and other information. Also, you can look at the Lowman and Emmett East MVUM Maps for trail information.
Don't forget your swim suits, the Silver Creek Plunge swimming pool is a great way to have fun and cool off. They also have a convenience store in case you run out of ice or pop.
Fishing in Silver Creek is good all summer. Every two weeks Memorial Day through Labor Day, Idaho Fish and Game stocks the creek with 8 to 12 inch Rainbow Trout...so don't forget your fishing license and pole!
