The annual ITMA State Ride is in our neck of the woods this year. The High Mountain Trail Machine Association hailing out of Grangeville will host the ride near Burgdorf Hot Springs, just north of McCall, Idaho.
This is an excellent opportunity to go riding in some spectacular country. There is riding in this area for all skill levels including some ATV opportunities as well. Additionally, Burgdorf Hot Springs is a thoroughly excellent venue for a soak.
Burgdorf Hot Springs cost is 5 dollars to swim. Don't forget your swim suit!
When: August 1st thru the 5th 2012.
Where: Travel to Mcall on Highway 55 and then turn right on Warren Wagon Road. Follow the main road for appx 28 miles then turn left onto Burgdorf Road, Forest Service Road 246. Follow FS Road 246 for appx 4-6 miles, or until you see the State Ride sign at the group campground area on the left side of the road.

Be sure to check out the B-23 Dragon Bomber which veered off course in a snowstorm on January 29, 1943, and crashed during an emergency landing on a frozen Loon Lake. The plane landed on the ice and then slid over to the far shore finally landing in the trees about 100 yards in. It's an incredible story how the passengers made it out. The fuselage still remains intact today. You can ride to Loon Lake and then hike over to the far shore of the lake to check it out.
