Bull Creek/Silver Creek
 Work Weekend

What? Come up to camp and ride the Middle Fork drainage with us! We'll have rides and a little bit of work scheduled for the weekend. This weekend is important as it is the catalyst to re-opening the Bull Creek trail which was closed several years ago after the fire in the area. We'll be heading up Friday after work, so look for the TVTMA signs.

DINNER: We will be serving food Saturday night for all work participants and familys. Please bring either a side dish or dessert if you can.

When? July 14th weekend.

From Boise, take Highway 55 to Banks and turn right to Garden Valley, towards Lowman on the Banks-Lowman Rd. Turn left onto the Middle Fork Road at around 9 miles and then go 1 mile to Crouch(great hamburgers and shakes!). Go through Crouch, north on the Middle Fork Road, which becomes the gravel National Forest Road 698 (NF-698) and then to NF-671 approximately 23 miles, just past the Silver Creek Plunge area. There, you will see the TVTMA signs directing you to the final camp destination near the Peace Creek Trailhead.

Please RSVP to vdigz@netzero.com so we can get a head count for dinner or call Verrick at 208-345-0884 if you have any questions about this Event.

It's gonna be hot this weekend! Avoid heat exhaustion by joining us in the mountains! Also be sure and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and don't over do it in the heat.

Bring your bug spray!! Mosquitos and Horse Flys are late getting out this year and they are very hungry!

Please be courteous to others, Please!! No camp riding. Please keep your pets on a leash at all times. Pack it in and pack it out.

                           Other area activites:

There are ATV opportunities in the area as well as excellent single track trail. The Idaho Parks and Rec TRAIL WEBSITE is a really cool way to check out all of the trails. You can zoom in, then click on the trail you want to preview. After a second, it will highlight and display the trail, the length of the trail, the trail name and other information. Also, you can look at the Lowman and Emmett East MVUM Maps for trail information.

Don't forget your swim suits, the Silver Creek Plunge swimming pool is a great way to have fun and cool off. They also have a convenience store in case you run out of ice or pop.

Fishing in Silver Creek is good all summer. Every two weeks Memorial Day through Labor Day, Idaho Fish and Game stocks the creek with 8 to 12 inch Rainbow Trout...so don't forget your fishing license and pole!

      History behind the workday:

The Monumental Fire began with a lightning strike near Monumental Peak on July 16, 2007. This complex consumed around 300,000 acres during the fire. The Bull Creek trail area was closed for fire rehabilitation for 4 years and just recently did part of it open again.

Last year the TVTMA volunteers, US Forest Service and Trails Unlimited teams worked to re-open Bull Creek up to Stratton Basin Tr. #10 and this year we’ll work with those teams again to finish the job.

This year there are 2 work weekends where we’ll work with the US Forest Service and Trails Unlimited. We’ll be doing some work on Bull Creek and Silver Creek trails and then also past Oxtail/Stratton Basin Creek up to Rice Peak Lookout and down Telephone Ridge trail! We'll work to help replace a major bridge, relocate portions of the trail, repair boggy conditions, rocking in the ends for culverts, some general brush work, tree cutting work and trail bed repair.

When all this is you will be able to once again tie into Stratton Basin Tr.#10, 16 to 1 Tr. #104, Fools Creek Tr.#100 and East Mountain Tr.#99.
