Hartley Burgdorf Ride

What: One day ride at Burgdorf. Come and ride Payette National forest and enjoy the view from on top. Camping/sleeping available at the Hartley cabin in Cascade.

When:  September 23rd-24th

Where:  Burgdorf!
For those who want to stay at the Hartley cabin Friday night the 23rd, travel highway 55 to Cascade. Turn left(south)on Carbarton Road  just past the railroad tracks coming into Cascade. Go 3.1 miles on Cabarton Road to Bear Wallow Road and turn right. The Hartley cabin is second on the left. Here is a MAP of the general location.

Those who want to come up Saturday morning...Travel to Mcall on Highway 55 and then turn right on Warren Wagon Road and travel approx. 27 miles to the trailhead sign which will be on the right. It will say Bear Pete and French Creek Trail Head. We'll be leaving the trailhead around 9 AM, so please be on time.

Riding: Saturday: We will be riding The Bear Pete Trail and surrounding trails such as Ruby Meadows to Loon Lake as well as Janette Creek, Klip Creek, Victor Creek, Wangdoodle and Elk Meadows.

This ride is planned as an EXPERT ride. The trails and country around Burgdorf are beautiful, but the terrain is generally steep, rocky and technical. Also the length of the ride will be about 70 miles, so be prepared on being out all day and make sure you have enough fuel to go that distance. Bring plenty of water, lunch and snacks. A water filter might come in handy as well. If you have a saw and are will to carry it, please do. We'll be riding in a burn area, and although Todd Hartley has cleared much of this area in the past couple of weeks, the trees continue to come down every day.

Watermelons will be provided at the end of the ride!

We'll be swimming after the ride and then leaving the Burgdorf area about 6:00pm. The Burgdorf Hot Springs cost is 5 dollars to swim. Don't forget your swim suit!

Other activities:  There are easy dirt roads very close by that are suitable for atv's and easier rides. Burgdorf pool is a great place to swim. There is great camping all around the Burgdorf area.

Info:  Please send RSVP or any questions to Todd Hartley at
