Silver City History Ride

What: The Silver City History Ride
When: September 24, 2016 at 10:00 AM
Where: Diamond Basin

Difficulty: Intermediate and above

Length: 75 to 80 miles

Lunch: Pack a lunch and water with you
Hosts: Greg Walker, Steve Perhac and Mark Bowen

Silver City was one of the first cities in Idaho and is rich in history and great stories.

This ride is hosted by Mark Bowen, Greg Walker, and Steve Perhac who have researched and studied the history of this old mining town. They will lead you on a ride that tells the history of the area, the mines, the times, and the people. This is tough country and due to the length and the terrain the ride is not a beginner ride. Ride length is typically in the 75 to 80 mile range and there are no gas stations so pack gas if you need to.Terrain is some single track but mostly old jeep trail that is very rocky and rutted. Ride is recommended for intermediate and above riders. We will stop at the historic township of Flint for lunch so plan on packing a lunch with you as we will not be stopping at the Idaho Hotel in Silver City for lunch.

If you have any questions or want to RSVP, please contact Greg Walker at greg.walker@ch2m.com or 208-867-8335.

Directions: Head South on Hwy 45 out of Nampa. Just after you cross the Snake River at Walters Ferry you will come to the junction of Hwy 78. Bear left on Hwy 78 toward Murphy / Grand View. Follow 78 to the road to Silver City which is a right turn about 4.5 miles past Murphy. Follow the Silver City road about 6 miles until it makes a hard left with a dirt road to the right. Turn right on the dirt road (old stagecoach road to Silver City) and turn left at the first major junction (about 0.3 miles). Follow road to the top of the hill and you are at Diamond Basin. Hope to see you there! - Walker/Bowen/Perhac
